The Situation
The operations team was spending three days every week compiling sales, inventory and logistics reports from five separate systems – ERP, POS, e-commerce platform, warehouse management and a legacy spreadsheet tracker. Each system had its own export format, its own update schedule and its own version of the truth.
By the time the weekly report was assembled, cleaned and cross-checked, the data was already stale. Purchasing decisions, restocking orders and promotional planning were based on numbers that were three to five days old – too slow for a business where stock positions and customer demand shift daily.
The team knew the data existed. The problem was that it lived in five places, arrived in five formats and required manual reconciliation before anyone could act on it.
What We Built
We designed and built a unified data platform that consolidates all five sources into a single pipeline with automated daily ingestion, validation and transformation.
The architecture follows a three-layer approach: raw data lands in an ingestion layer exactly as it arrives from each source, a transformation layer cleans, validates and standardises it, and a serving layer makes it available for reporting and analysis in a consistent, trusted format. Every record passes through automated quality checks – schema validation, duplicate detection, freshness monitoring before it reaches the reporting layer. Records that fail validation are routed to an audit log rather than silently corrupting downstream reports.
On top of the platform we built automated daily reports delivered to the operations team every morning before standup: sales performance by channel, inventory positions by location and logistics status, all from one source rather than five manual exports.
